Why Exterior Shades?
Wind Resistance
Crown exterior shades are designed to withstand strong winds. The vertical zip tracks hold the fabric in place, keeping the material wrinkle free and taught in windy conditions.
Insect Proof
When the shade is In the down position, the enclosed zip screens can keep unwanted pests out. Choose fabrics such as Phifer Tuffscreen if this is your main requirement.
Sun Protection
Solar screen material is designed to reduce sunlight entering an area which helps keep covered areas cooler.

Zip Track Fabric Retention
Zip-Track with co-molded inner guidance system (Smooth technology) allows for superior wind resistance and an extremely smooth operation. This along with our engineered hem bars eliminate binding and alignment concerns.
Solar Powered Operation
For shades under 100 sq. ft. we offer solar powered motorization for applications where running line voltage power is not an option.
Obstacle Detection
All Crown line voltage powered exterior motorized shades are equipped with a feature which reverses the motor when the bottom bar hits an obstacle on its downward movement.
Optional Cable Guide Fabric Retention
Cable guide side retention is an alternative solution when zip tracks aren’t possible. This system includes universal, durable stainless steel & corrosion resistant hardware.
Optional Manual Crank Operation
Crown offers a manual crank handle when powered shades are not possible. The handle can either be static or removable from the crank mechanism.
Fabric Panel Types:
Insect Mesh “Bug Screen”
For simply keeping those pesky insects out choose an insect mesh like Phifer’s Tuffscreen. Zip track side channels are mandatory with this fabric.
Solar Fabrics
For reducing solar heat gain and UV rays choose a solar screen fabric like Serge Ferrari Soltis 86—92, Mermet Natte or Phifer Suntex which offer an openness range from 3% to 25%.
Crystal Screen
Solid clear vinyl windows are perfect for containing a climate controlled space. A border material in a 5% or less screen openness or a solid material like Serge Ferrari 502 help provide tensile strength to the fabric panel.
